Academia de Hollywood. Las nominaciones son dominadas por The King’s Speech,
dirigida por Tom Hooper, que se alzó como la gran favorita de la
próxima entrega de premios con 12 opciones en las categorías de mejor
película, director (Tom Hooper), actor (Colin Firth), actor de reparto
(Geoffrey Rush), actriz de reparto (Helena Bonam-Carter) arte,
fotografía, vestuario, edición, guión, sonido, música. The King’s
Speech es una historia sobre la dificultad del rey George VI -monarca
inglés durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial- de vencer su tartamudeo.
Es seguida en número de candidaturas por la más reciente película de los hermanos Coen, True Grit, con diez nominaciones; The Social Network (de David Fincher) e Inception (Chris Nolan) con ocho; The Fighter (de David O. Russell) con siete; 127 hours con seis y Black Swan (Darren Aronofsky) con cinco.
Casi son los mismos títulos que compiten tanto en mejor película como en mejor director, además de The Kids Are All Right, Toy Story 3 y Winter’s Bone.

Bardem, que alcanza una nueva nominación por Biutiful luego de haber
hecho historia al conseguir la codiciada estatuilla por su
participación en No Country for Old Men, competirá esta vez
contra Jeff Bridges por “True Grit”, Jesse Eisenberg en “The Social
Network”, Colin Firth en “The King’s Speech” y James Franco en “127
Hours”
La categoría de mejor actriz también tendrá una dura
competencia entre Annette Bening en “The Kids Are All Right”; Nicole
Kidman en “Rabbit Hole”; Jennifer Lawrence en “Winter’s Bone”; Natalie
Portman en “Black Swan” y Michelle Williams en “Blue Valentine”.
Biutiful,
la película que representa a México este año, tendrá que intentar
imponerse sobre sus oponentes en la categoría de mejor película
extranjera: Dogtooth (de Giorgos Lanthimos) por Grecia; Incendies (Denis Villeneuve) por Canada, Outside the Law (Hors-la-loi) (de Rachid Bouchareb) por Argelia y In a Better World
(de Susanne Bier) por Dinamarca, una de las favoritas toda vez que fue
la ganadora en esta misma categoría en la pasada entrega de los Globos
de Oro.
El año pasado la argentina El secreto de sus ojos
fue la ganadora en esta misma categoría, de suerte que si Biutiful lo
logra este año supondrá repetir el logro de forma consecutiva para la
región Iberoamericana.
La entrega de los premios de
la edición 83 de los Oscar 2011 se realizará este domingo 27 de Febrero
de 2011 en el Teatro Kodak, de Los Ángeles, California, y será
televisada en directo en más de 200 países.
